Sell Your Device Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you offer to sell a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, computer, smartwatch, games console or another accepted device to FoneRevive.
These Terms and Conditions apply when you offer to sell a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, computer, smartwatch, games console or another accepted device to FoneRevive. Please read these terms before submitting your device.
By submitting a Sell Your Device request, posting a device to us or leaving a device at a FoneRevive store, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
1. About FoneRevive
“FoneRevive”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the FoneRevive company purchasing your device.
For postal transactions, the purchasing company is:
- Legal company name
- Fonerevive Limited
- Trading name
- FoneRevive
- Company number
- 09699535
- Registered address
- 87 High Street, Weston-Super-Mare, England, BS23 1HE
- Telephone
- 0333 188 0100
For store drop-off transactions, your device may be purchased by the company operating the selected FoneRevive store. The legal name and contact details of the purchasing store will be shown in your booking confirmation or made available at the store.
Some FoneRevive stores are independently owned franchise businesses. A franchisee may be a separate legal company from FoneRevive Head Office.
2. Who can use the service?
You must be at least 18 years old to use our online Sell Your Device service.
You must provide accurate and complete information, including your:
- full legal name;
- home address;
- date of birth;
- telephone number;
- email address;
- payment details; and
- device information.
We may ask for photographic identification, proof of address, proof of purchase or other evidence before completing the transaction.
We may refuse or delay a transaction if we cannot confirm your identity, ownership of the device or payment information.
3. Your online valuation
The price shown on our website is an estimated valuation.
It is based on the information you give us about the device, including:
- brand and model;
- storage capacity;
- network status;
- cosmetic condition;
- working condition;
- battery condition;
- included accessories; and
- any damage or previous repairs.
The online valuation is not a guaranteed purchase price. We can only confirm the final price after receiving, inspecting and testing the device.
4. How long your valuation remains valid
Unless your confirmation says otherwise, your online valuation is valid for 14 calendar days from the date of your submission.
For postal transactions, we recommend posting your device within seven days so that it reaches us within the valuation period.
If we receive your device after the valuation has expired, we may:
- provide a new valuation based on the current value of the device;
- ask you to accept a revised offer; or
- return the device if you do not wish to continue.
Market prices can change. However, we will not reduce an offer after inspection without a genuine reason connected to the device, the information supplied or the expiry of the original valuation.
5. No sale is completed when you submit the form
Submitting a Sell Your Device request does not mean that FoneRevive has agreed to purchase your device. It is an invitation for us to inspect the device and make a final offer.
A binding sale is completed only when:
- we have received and tested the device;
- we have confirmed the final purchase price;
- you have accepted that price, where acceptance is required; and
- we have approved the transaction for payment.
Until then, the device remains your property.
6. Store drop-off service
When you select store drop-off, you must take the device to the FoneRevive store shown in your confirmation.
Please bring:
- your booking reference;
- valid photographic identification;
- proof of address if requested;
- proof of purchase or ownership if requested; and
- any accessories included in your valuation.
The store will inspect and test the device. Testing may take place immediately or the device may need to be left with the store. The store will explain the expected testing time before taking possession of the device.
You will receive a final offer after testing.
7. Postal service and free postage label
When you select our postal service, we will send your prepaid postage label separately by email. Please check your inbox and your junk or spam folder.
The postage label:
- is supplied for your FoneRevive transaction only;
- must not be copied, changed, transferred or used for another parcel;
- must be attached securely to the outside of the parcel; and
- must be used in accordance with the courier’s instructions.
You must obtain and keep proof of posting. You should also keep your tracking information until your transaction has been completed and payment has been received.
8. Packaging your device
You are responsible for packaging the device properly. You must:
- use a strong outer box or suitable protective packaging;
- use enough padding to prevent movement;
- protect the screen, cameras, corners and other fragile areas;
- package accessories separately where necessary;
- remove your SIM card and memory card;
- place your transaction reference inside the parcel; and
- follow all courier packaging and safety instructions.
You must not include:
- cash;
- bank cards;
- SIM cards;
- personal documents;
- unrelated products;
- damaged or swollen loose batteries;
- dangerous or prohibited items; or
- anything not listed in your transaction.
We are not responsible for damage caused by unsuitable or inadequate packaging.
9. Postal loss or damage
You must use the postage label provided by FoneRevive and obtain proof of posting.
Where you correctly use our label and a tracked parcel is lost before reaching us, we will assist with or submit a claim to the courier.
Any payment for a lost or damaged parcel may depend on:
- proof of posting;
- tracking information;
- evidence of the device’s ownership and value;
- whether the device was packaged correctly;
- the courier’s investigation;
- the courier’s compensation rules; and
- any applicable insurance or compensation limit.
We cannot guarantee that courier compensation will equal the website valuation.
We will not normally be responsible for loss where:
- no proof of posting is available;
- a different courier or label was used without our approval;
- the parcel was sent to an incorrect address;
- tracking shows that the parcel was never handed to the courier;
- the parcel contained a prohibited item; or
- the customer provided false or incomplete information.
Nothing in these terms removes any responsibility that we cannot legally exclude.
10. Devices included in the parcel
You must send only the devices and accessories listed in your Sell Your Device request.
If you send several devices as part of one transaction, please send them together unless we agree otherwise.
If part of an order is missing, we may:
- process the devices we received;
- cancel the missing items; or
- contact you for further information.
Any device sent without a booking reference may take longer to identify and process.
Unlisted devices will not automatically be purchased. We may provide a separate valuation or return them to you.
11. Device testing
We will test the device to confirm its identity, condition and functionality.
Testing may include checking:
- make and model;
- storage capacity;
- serial number and IMEI number;
- network status;
- blacklist or lost-and-stolen status;
- power and charging;
- battery health;
- screen and touchscreen;
- cameras;
- microphones and speakers;
- buttons and ports;
- Face ID, Touch ID or other biometric functions;
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile connectivity;
- cosmetic condition;
- frame, screen and back-glass damage;
- liquid damage;
- account or activation locks;
- repairs and replacement parts;
- software condition;
- signs of tampering;
- counterfeit parts; and
- general safety.
Testing may require us to charge, switch on, reset or connect the device to diagnostic equipment. We will take reasonable care while the device is in our possession.
We are not responsible where a device stops working because of a pre-existing, hidden or undisclosed fault that becomes apparent during normal and careful testing. We remain responsible where damage is directly caused by our failure to use reasonable care.
12. Condition and grading
The condition selected on the website must accurately describe the device.
The final valuation may be different if we find:
- scratches, cracks, dents or chips;
- screen burn, dead pixels or display faults;
- damaged cameras, ports, speakers or buttons;
- poor battery health;
- liquid damage;
- missing parts;
- non-genuine or lower-quality replacement parts;
- previous unauthorised repairs;
- network or account locks;
- incorrect storage capacity;
- an incorrect model;
- missing accessories that affected the quote;
- software or security problems;
- functional faults; or
- any other important difference from your description.
Our Device Grading and Testing Guide forms part of these terms.
13. Revised offers
If the device matches the information you supplied, we will confirm the original valuation and arrange payment.
If it does not match, we may send you a revised offer. We will explain the main reason for the change.
A revised offer may be sent by email, text message, WhatsApp, telephone or through your online account.
You will normally have seven calendar days to accept or decline the revised offer. We will not complete the purchase at the reduced price unless you accept it.
If you accept the revised offer, we will arrange payment. If you decline it, we will arrange the return or collection of your device in accordance with these terms.
14. No response from the customer
If we send you a revised offer and receive no response, we will attempt to contact you again. We may send reminders using the contact details provided in your booking.
We will not treat silence as acceptance of a reduced offer.
If you do not reply after repeated contact attempts, we may cancel the transaction and arrange for the device to be returned or held for collection.
You are responsible for keeping your telephone number, email address and postal address up to date.
15. Our right to refuse a device
We may refuse to buy a device where there is a genuine legal, safety, fraud, testing or commercial reason.
This may include a device that:
- is reported lost or stolen;
- is blacklisted or IMEI-blocked;
- is subject to outstanding finance;
- is leased, rented or owned by another person;
- is subject to an insurance claim;
- belongs to an employer, school or organisation;
- is activation-locked;
- is linked to an iCloud, Google, Samsung or similar account;
- cannot be properly tested;
- appears counterfeit;
- contains counterfeit or misrepresented parts;
- has a swollen, leaking or unsafe battery;
- is contaminated or unsafe to handle;
- is materially different from the submitted description;
- is prohibited by law;
- is connected with suspected fraud;
- is not supported by suitable identification or ownership evidence;
- falls outside our accepted product categories; or
- is submitted in a quantity that we cannot reasonably purchase as a normal consumer transaction.
We may also refuse a transaction where you have provided false or misleading information.
16. Your ownership declaration
By submitting or handing over a device, you confirm that:
- you are its legal owner or have the owner’s permission to sell it;
- you have full authority to sell it;
- it has not been stolen or obtained through fraud;
- it is not subject to outstanding finance;
- it is not leased or rented;
- it is not subject to a device-return obligation;
- it is not part of an active insurance claim;
- no network, finance provider, employer, insurer or other person has a legal claim over it;
- the information you have supplied is complete and accurate; and
- selling the device does not breach any agreement or law.
You authorise us to carry out reasonable checks using the IMEI number, serial number, identification documents and other relevant information.
17. Lost, stolen, financed or fraudulent devices
If we reasonably believe that a device may be stolen, lost, financed, counterfeit or connected with fraud, we may:
- pause the transaction;
- delay or withhold payment;
- ask for further evidence;
- retain the device while reasonable enquiries are made;
- cancel the transaction;
- report the matter to the police, network provider, insurer, fraud-prevention service or another appropriate organisation; or
- hand the device to an authority where required or permitted by law.
We will not return a device where doing so would be unlawful or contrary to instructions from an appropriate authority.
18. Devices blacklisted after purchase
Your ownership declaration continues to apply after the sale has been completed.
If a device is later blocked, blacklisted, reclaimed or claimed by another person because of circumstances that existed before you sold it to us, we may contact you and ask for further information.
Where you provided false information or did not have the right to sell the device, we may seek repayment of the amount paid and any reasonable direct loss caused to us. We may also report suspected fraud or take legal action where appropriate.
19. Removing your personal information
Before sending or dropping off the device, you should:
- back up anything you wish to keep;
- remove your SIM card and memory card;
- remove payment cards and digital wallets;
- sign out of iCloud, Google, Samsung and other accounts;
- switch off Find My iPhone, Find My Device and similar services;
- remove passwords, PINs and screen locks;
- disconnect paired devices and services; and
- erase your personal data where possible.
You are responsible for keeping your own backup. We are not responsible for personal information, photographs, messages, files or other content that you fail to back up before handing over the device.
Once we receive the device, we will handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and internal data-handling procedures. Where possible, devices accepted for purchase will be securely erased before resale.
20. Account-locked devices
We cannot purchase a device that remains linked to an iCloud, Google, Samsung or similar security account.
If an account lock is found, we may ask you to remove it remotely or provide information allowing us to confirm that it has been removed.
We will never ask you to provide your account password.
If the lock is not removed within the time we specify, we may reject and return the device.
21. Accessories
The online valuation will state whether accessories affect the price.
Where accessories are required, these may include:
- charging cables;
- plugs;
- controllers;
- styluses;
- detachable keyboards;
- power supplies; or
- other model-specific parts.
Missing, damaged, counterfeit or incompatible accessories may reduce the valuation.
Please do not send original boxes unless they are included in your valuation or specifically requested.
22. Payment
Available payment methods will be shown during your transaction.
Payment may be made by:
- bank transfer;
- another approved electronic payment method; or
- another method agreed with you.
Unless otherwise stated, payment will be made after:
- testing has been completed;
- the final price has been agreed;
- identity and ownership checks have been passed; and
- the transaction has been approved.
We will normally process payment within number to be confirmed working days after approval.
Banking delays, weekends and public holidays may affect when funds reach your account.
23. Your payment details
You must provide complete and accurate payment information.
The payment account should normally be held in your name.
We may ask for further verification where the account name differs from the seller's name.
We are not responsible for delay or misdirection caused solely by incorrect details supplied by you, provided we processed the payment correctly using those details.
If a payment is rejected or returned, we will contact you using the information in your booking.
24. Transfer of ownership
You remain the owner of the device while it is being inspected and tested.
Ownership transfers to the purchasing FoneRevive company only when:
- the final price has been accepted;
- the transaction has been approved; and
- payment has been authorised or processed.
After ownership transfers, we may repair, refurbish, recycle, resell or otherwise deal with the device.
25. Declining a revised offer
If you decline a revised offer, you may choose the available return or collection option.
For an ordinary consumer transaction, we will normally return the device without charge where:
- the device was honestly described;
- the difference relates to a genuine grading disagreement;
- the device fails normal testing; or
- you simply do not accept the revised valuation.
We may ask you to pay reasonable return costs where:
- the device was deliberately or materially misdescribed;
- a prohibited or dangerous item was sent;
- an unauthorised parcel or product was submitted;
- the service has been repeatedly misused;
- the transaction involves a trader or bulk seller; or
- return costs are unusually high because of the quantity or nature of the products.
Any charge will be explained before the return is arranged and will reflect the reasonable cost involved.
26. Returning postal devices
Returned postal devices will be sent to the address recorded in your transaction unless another address is agreed and verified.
You are responsible for ensuring that your return address is correct.
We may require a signature or another secure delivery method. We will provide tracking information where available.
You must contact us promptly if the tracking information shows a problem.
27. Collecting a rejected device from a store
If a store rejects a device or you decline its final offer, you must collect the device within the period stated by the store.
Unless otherwise stated, rejected or declined devices will be held for at least 30 calendar days.
We will make reasonable attempts to contact you before treating a device as uncollected.
You may need to provide identification and your booking receipt before the device is released.
28. Uncollected and abandoned devices
Where a device remains uncollected, we will normally send:
- an initial collection notice;
- at least one reminder; and
- a final notice warning that the device may be treated as abandoned.
We will normally allow at least 30 calendar days from the first collection notice.
If you still do not collect the device after the final deadline, we may arrange secure storage, return, recycling or disposal where legally permitted.
We may charge reasonable storage, return or disposal costs where these have been clearly communicated and genuinely incurred.
We will not take ownership of or resell an uncollected device purely because the customer has not responded unless we have a lawful right to do so.
29. Unsafe devices and batteries
Do not post or bring us a device with a battery that is:
- swollen;
- leaking;
- punctured;
- smoking;
- extremely hot;
- badly crushed; or
- otherwise dangerous.
Contact us before transporting an unsafe device. We may refuse, isolate or arrange safe disposal of a dangerous device.
Where emergency handling or specialist disposal is required because a customer ignored clear safety instructions, we may seek reasonable costs from that customer.
30. Bulk sellers and business sellers
Our standard consumer service is intended for people selling their own personal devices.
We may treat a transaction as a bulk or business sale where it involves:
- several identical or similar devices;
- repeated high-volume submissions;
- devices purchased for resale;
- business-owned stock; or
- other evidence of commercial selling.
Separate prices, testing periods, identification requirements, payment arrangements and return costs may apply. We will explain any different terms before a bulk or business sale is completed.
No bulk sale is completed until the seller accepts the final bulk offer.
31. Cancelling your Sell Your Device request
You may cancel your request before the final sale is completed.
Where we have not yet received the device, you can cancel by contacting us or by allowing the valuation to expire.
Where we have received the device but ownership has not yet transferred, you may ask us to cancel and return it.
Reasonable return costs may apply only where these were clearly disclosed or where your actions caused unnecessary additional costs.
After the final offer has been accepted and ownership has transferred, the transaction normally cannot be cancelled unless we agree otherwise or the law requires it.
32. Our responsibility for your device
We will use reasonable care while your device is in our possession.
We may be responsible where loss or damage is directly caused by our negligence or failure to use reasonable care.
We are not responsible for:
- damage that existed before we received the device;
- normal deterioration;
- faults caused by the device’s existing condition;
- hidden defects that appear during careful testing;
- data that you did not back up;
- SIM cards or memory cards you failed to remove;
- damage caused by poor packaging;
- incorrect information supplied by you; or
- events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- deliberate wrongdoing; or
- any other responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.
33. Limits on claims
Where the law allows, our responsibility for direct loss connected with a device will normally be limited to its reasonable value at the time of the incident. This does not apply where a higher level of responsibility is required by law.
We are not responsible for indirect business loss, loss of profit or loss of opportunity where you are acting as a business seller, except where the law says otherwise.
These limits do not reduce the legal rights of consumers.
34. Fraud prevention and record keeping
We may keep records of:
- transactions;
- identification checks;
- IMEI and serial numbers;
- device photographs;
- testing results;
- payment information;
- customer communications; and
- suspected fraud or ownership concerns.
We use this information to:
- complete transactions;
- prevent crime and fraud;
- deal with complaints;
- meet legal and accounting obligations; and
- protect customers, FoneRevive stores and third parties.
More information is available in our Privacy Policy.
35. Communications
We may contact you about the transaction by:
- email;
- telephone;
- SMS;
- WhatsApp;
- post; or
- your online account.
You must provide working contact details and check your messages regularly.
Transactional messages are necessary for processing your Sell Your Device request. Marketing messages will only be sent in accordance with your choices and applicable privacy rules.
36. Complaints
Please contact us if you are unhappy with the service.
- Telephone
- 0333 188 0100
- Postal address
- 87 High Street, Weston-Super-Mare, England, BS23 1HE
For store transactions, you should normally raise the complaint with the store first. If the matter is not resolved, it may be escalated to FoneRevive Head Office.
Please include:
- your full name;
- booking reference;
- store name, if applicable;
- device details;
- a clear description of the problem; and
- any supporting evidence.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within number to be confirmed working days and provide a full response within number to be confirmed working days.
37. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time.
The terms that apply to your transaction will normally be the version shown when you submitted your Sell Your Device request.
We will not make a significant change to an existing transaction without a proper reason and without telling you. A change will not remove any legal right you already have.
38. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as:
- courier disruption;
- severe weather;
- fire or flood;
- power or communications failure;
- strikes;
- government restrictions;
- cyber incidents;
- major system failures; or
- other emergencies.
We will take reasonable steps to reduce the delay and keep you informed.
39. If part of these terms is invalid
If a court or other competent authority finds that one part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.
40. Your legal rights
These terms do not remove or reduce any legal rights that you have as a consumer.
Where these terms conflict with a legal right that cannot be excluded, the legal right will apply.
41. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Customers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also have the right to bring proceedings in their local courts where applicable.
